Hiya!

We put our three dogs in a great kennel for a week while we went on vacation.  This was the first visit for two of our dogs and the second for Fable, who hadn't been kenneled in seven years ...

Fable (9 year old husky mix female) came home and has been drinking a ton of water and peeing often and a lot!  This is not 'normal' behavior for her and has been going on now for one week.

She is eating fine, acting normal, playing, etc ... and there is no blood in the urine, no unusual odor ... just frequency and duration along with the huge thirst.

She has an appt to see the vet tomorrow afternoon ... but I'm wondering what advice I might get here ... could it just be an odd readjustment to being back home?  Because she's showing NO OTHER SIGNS of any illness or issue.

Thanks for any thoughts ...

Lacey

We have a couple of Mastiff dogs that are in need of a forever home. We want them to go to a great home. I would be happy to talk with you regarding the dogs that need homes. Two of the four dogs we have are free which is why I am trying a post on this site.
These are great dogs. If you email me with your phone number I will get back in touch with you.
Thanks

Ok, let's try this again. I thought I found a great home for my 1.5 year old Harlequin, but things fell through. I've attached a pic when he was 6 months old...If interested, please email me.

Doreen, if you're interested, please call/email me.

Thanks
Steve

Anything Non-Dog Related / bunnies!!!
« on: July 07, 2008, 06:18:36 pm »
Okay, so not a BIG DOG post ... but my little dog (rat terrier) dug up a bunny nest yesterday ... I was able to catch her before she got to the bunnies ... OMG, they are adorable, there are five or six babies ... momma is standing by ... they all look healthy and I'm sure they'll make it in the wild, but I do 'peek' on them to make sure all is well ... I'm head over heels in love ... I think it's great that momma built the nest just out of the ratties area, but under lots of 'shepherd poo' as if that would keep them safe!!!  Smart momma!!

My two big dogs, could care less, have no clue the nest is right under their noses!!!

I saw him on Craig's list this morning, anyone need another baby? ...

Riley is a 2 1/2 year old great dane male who needs a new home. He needs room to run and is better off without younger children. He gets along great with other dogs and cats. (photo)

Well, we just had quite the exciting afternoon ... apparently a gentleman, being pursued by the police, crashed his car next door to my house and took off into the woods ... with several police cars (with sirens) and several (gorgeous!) police dogs running through my yard, in an effort to protect my children from this situation, my husky mix thought a good idea would be to cover my living room carpet with (ahem) diareah ... UGH!!!  I do suppose if the 'bad guy' had entered our home, he would have slipped and hurt himself quite badly!!!

All joking aside ... I love that my dogs 'probably' wouldn't ever hurt a soul, but they bark enough to make someone think twice about entering!!!

They did catch the bad guy, not sure what his crime was ... but now everyone's happily napping on the living room carpet ... did I mention I LOVE my Bissel ProHeat 2X!!!

Okay, Ozzy is WAY to big to be crated at night anymore ... I'm thinking the next move is to contain him in our room at night (just one room!) ... does anyone have any recommendation s for good quality, puppy proof door gates?

Thanks!!!

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Two gorgeous boys ...
« on: June 13, 2008, 05:22:51 pm »
Okay, so before I got Ozzy I had inquired about these two beautiful boys (part newfy, part boarder collie) ... I was told they could NOT be adopted to Massachusetts residents ... well they're still available ... (I lovingly refer to them as "the brothers") ... but if anyone out there can get them ... well I'm just praying, that's all!

Thanks for at least looking!!!  (How is it possible to fall in love with dogs you've never, ever met???)

My job has gone from working from home 5 days/week to traveling 5 days/week and can no longer care for my Dane properly. He's a sweet boy and great around kids and other dogs. He's pure bred Harlequin with natural ears and recently up to date with all shots. Looking for a good home and loving family that can care for him. If interested, please call me - 781-264-8200 Steve. I can send pics on request.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / baby teeth
« on: June 05, 2008, 06:01:36 pm »
I can't beleive that I have all four of Ozzy's baby 'shark' teeth ... I found two on the bed and while 'chewing' on my hand (gently of course) I was able to 'catch' two ... My (skin) kids think it's gross that I put them in my jewerly box next to their baby teeth ...

In all my experience of owning (or being owned by) dogs, I have NEVER found a dog tooth, it's so cool to have four!!!

What happens if you put these under the doggie pillow ... do they get liver treats???

Thanks for being the type of place where I can type this email and know that some of you 'get' my excitement!!!

Ozzy's getting so big, I can't beleive this!!!

I love big dogs because they don't sell little frilly outfits for them at the store!!!

Don't get me wrong, I have a nine pound rat terrier, who DOESN'T wear clothing, phew ... and so I do love her.

I do apologize to anyone out there who likes to dress their little pets, it's just not my thing!

Although a nice bandana is cool on a big dog!

(At Petco this weekend when a small chiuaua growled at Ozzy, the chiuaua's owner actually said, "Oh stop that or mommy will not buy you a new sweater!" ... tee hee)

Mixed Breed Discussion / Ozzy's trip to Petco
« on: May 17, 2008, 11:08:19 am »
Ozzy had his regular trip to Petco (to meet other people/dogs) today.  He got a new collar, some oatmeal/aloe shampoo and a nail trim.  It was so funny to see his reaction (or non reaction) to the other dogs ... he's so friendly and could care less what their attitude is ... for instance this itty bitty chiuaua snarled and growled and totally freaked out and Ozzy was looking at him like, "Ha ... you have NO idea how my rat terrier terrorizes me at home, is that all you got???"  We met the trainers GSD, gorgeous police dog looks and a definite walking advertisement for training perfection ... he layed down on command so Ozzy could check him out, way cool.

But the highlight of the day was seeing the LARGEST dog I've ever seen in my life!!!  (You know that photo of the dog walking with the two people and the horse, that looks digitally altered???)  This dog looked like THAT dog and ALMOST as big ... hhhmmmpppphhhh ... I don't even WANNA see the food bill on that guy ... but he was a big old marshmallow (Thank Goodness!!!).

Ozzy is now snoozing after a long day of 'puppy work', tee hee

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Rash - Help!!!
« on: May 16, 2008, 03:55:37 pm »
I posted this to the wrong place, so I'm trying again ... my apologies ... I'm still kinda new ...

Okay, Ozzy has a very strang rash on the top inside of his hind leg ... he's even limping due to it, but otherwise seems his happy puppy self.  The vet suggested bathing him in a skin formula shampoo and having him come in to be seen on Tuesday afternoon!  Is there anything I can do to help relieve this rash for the poor guy?  He's also got a nasty scab under his chin that we've been watching for two days and putting bacitracian on.  I was wondering if he might have an alergic reaction to the fluffy bed blanket we put in his kennel (so that came out today) ... I welcome ALL advice ... poor puppy ...

Again, just to clarify, he's eating, drinking, peeing, pooping, and playing like nothing's wrong ...
