Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Re: Free male and female mastiffs
« on: February 15, 2009, 10:08:03 am »
why do people even get these kind of dogs if they dont intend on taking care of them? This makes me not like people alot of the time. >:( I hate the excuses... Im allergic.. Were you not allergic before you got the dog?
It got to big. Did you think a dog who normally weighs over 30pds as a baby is not gonna be an extremely large dog obviously the word mastiff did not apply to my dog!!
I dont have time for them anymore. Why did you get them in the first place? THERE NOT GARBAGE!!You dont just throw them out when there not fun anymore or dont fit into your lifestyle.
Im having a baby and the dog is getting to be to much.
I heard this from a woman where I live who tried to give me her 8 month out of control saint bernard in the town I live in. If you would have trained the dog when it was a puppy you might not be having this problem NOW!! I think she should not have bred her self being an irresponsible pet owner usually shows you lack parenting skills. She got the dog 3 months after she got pregnant. Dont take the responsibility of being a pet owner on if you cannot take care of the dog. Think before you impulsively act. They live and breath and feel too!!!

this suprisingly is the first dog that I have had that could not stay interested in 1 toy and chews everything. My saints were never bigger chews and my moms jack is very mellow suprisingly for a jack.

Oh Im not positive she was with a pit thats what they were thinking. I thought border collie maybe she has brown mixed in with her fur around her ears and tail. She also likes to follow me and run around in circles around me and try to eat my shoes or pantleg. Its just a guess. I dont mind pits though they are great dogs. The only reason my grandma did not want her is because shell be above 40pds as a guess. Im gonna just put husky as her major breed and as her second unknown.lol. She is cute though. Her and Kodiak get along great and Macey is good with her. Cujo and Angel dont really want to deal with the torture of puppy teeth so they tend to stay away from her, but as she gets better Im sure they will play.Cujo has always been cautious towards little dogs and puppys I think because he knows he is big.
She will be 10 weeks old this coming week and so far she is doing good pooping outside already she however does not like snow at the moment. She does howl though especially while in the crate, but yet after shes done playing she'll go right back in there and go back to sleep she just doesnt want the crate shut. She however is chewing everything I cant keep her interested in her toys.

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: Poor Barffy Titan :(

Hope he ends up okay. He should. Also listen for how he drinks his water. We went to our vet like 8 times because Cujo kept throwing up constantly and it was because he was drinking his water to fast. Now I listen to him all the time to make sure hes not drinking to fast and have to tell him to calm down. It stopped the throwing up. I was shocked though to have it be something as simple as that. The vet loved seeing me though ;)

I gave up on grass I kept replanting last summer and we tilled the yard to put flowers out front, but the dogs ripped everything out. So next year the dogs are being moved out back alot more room out there.like over an acre I just thought it was convient since the front door is closer then the back.lol.

Mixed Breed Pictures / what kind of puppy?
« on: February 12, 2009, 11:26:46 pm »
Well my friends dog all white husky had a litter and I ran into her and she was taking them to the pound. Not sure who dad is one guy thought it was his pitbull and said he would just drowned all the puppies. I know cruel. I dont know if its pitbull or not there not sure. So I convinced her to keep them another week and she found homes for all of them. I got one to train for my grandma, but when I told her about her she said she didnt want such a big dog and to me I guess thats fine. I work at home and spend all my time with my dogs anyway. So she'll be fixed as soon as she gets old enough so she wont be producing, but I cant tell what breed she is so I can get her license right when she turns 12 weeks and my vet just wrote down husky/?. So what do you all think? Her tail is curly but not a tight curl.

If you notice Kodiak is getting extremely big, but is a wonderful dog and Cujo is doing good now finally allowing people into the house and Macey is just our lazy saint she dont mind anything.

well I wanted to update everyone on Cujo. We have had help and so far so good. He lets my one friend in the house as the trainer has taught us to not let Cujo get excited when people come over so he is put away at first then when whoever comes over is sitting down we let Cujo out. The person is to ignore and not touch him until Cujo feels comfortable with the person and suprise he went over and put his head on my friends lap and started licking the back of his neck. Now Cujo is allowed to greet him at the door when he comes over and there have been no incidences with him and my friend or with the other dogs. However getting other people not to be scared at all when I let the dog out is another thing. He is so big they are scared to death which cant happen. On our walks though he still wears his halti and someone approached me the other day and he tried to growl at him and I corrected him and after that the walk went smooth.

Groans, Gripes, Brags & Boasts / Re: I got mangled by a cat!!!

Yes my hand is okay. I suffered a very big ego blow due to they know I deal with extremely large dogs all day long here and I get mangled by a cat.lol. They are very deep scratches, cuts, and punctures from her teeth though which I will admit it does hurt. Now just gotta watch for cat scratch fever which is real suprisingly bacteria from the litter box gets into there claws they scratch you and sometimes you get cat scratch fever. It bled after I left until I got home. This cat for some reason is always flighty. She is spayed suprisingly and was suppose to calm her attitude down, but apparently not.lol. Shes just a tortoise shell calico. So where the attitude comes from is beyond me. My aunt has a persian and she is overly friendly.

I know this is a very old post, but I want to thank you horsepoor for the support when it came to me getting Maceys papers from the same breeder. She has made me  look at supposed show breeders in a whole new light. I was first of all disgusted when I got macey being covered from head to toe in urine she was stained I tried washing her several times with whitener it did not work so I had to result in shaving my 5 month old white saint. She had obviously never been treated with any love, respect, or dignity as the poor dog did not know her own name. She had never worn a collar, never had been a leash, and is scared of EVERYTHING!! I have dealt with this dog over 7 months now she loves me, but is extremely shy towards other people. It takes her time to warm up. I paid her over 1600 dollars for this dog because she was a SHOW PROSPECT. I could not show her. I took her to have her evaluated. She is show prospective yes stance, build, looks, but shyness is a big no no in the show ring. All she could tell me is I can breed her and her pups wont turn out the same way. The dog was sick when I got her because yes I did spend yet another 100 dollars to take her to the vet check up she required within the 5 days I got her. She had a severe bladder infection. Also took me till November to finally get my papers and my dogs birthday is not even the same as it was posted when I bought her. I got the papers late so I had to pay even more to register her! Because by then she was over a year old. I have I'll admit, but my last 2 dogs from backyard breeders some would say. They didnt show however the dogs did have there shots, pictures, backgrounds, and parents were on sight and they didnt have over 50 dogs running around. I told her flat out you have proved to me NEVER to buy a dog from a breeder whos house I cant physically go to and see all of there dogs. I wish I would of read this post before I purchased it would have saved me the heartache and the six months of grief she put me through waiting for my papers for a papered saint bernard. This was suppose to be the dog I put into dog shows. Now I have a very expensive house pet. So hopefully everyone keeps this post reads this post and if your interested in a saint bernard contact me or her to know not to buy a dog from this supposed wonderful show breeder. She will make up all the excuses in the world not to send your papers and avoid you like the black plague until you threaten legal actions which I did to. As you also will have a shy dog that is scared of its own shadow and will cost you more in the long run for the training for the dog to even lift there tail to show there happy.

Groans, Gripes, Brags & Boasts / I got mangled by a cat!!!
« on: December 25, 2008, 09:57:09 pm »
You know I always thought being bit by a dog was bad, because I have always been a dog person have been biten by dogs of different types as a kid was never scared after being bit either suprisingly. I went over to my grandmas house for christmas and her cat was fine with me until I went to leave I pet the cat goodbye and I had petted her throughout the whole day and she was fine and when I went to leave the cat bit me and then resorted into attacking me full on. My hand was bleeding everywhere. The cat got my knuckle, palm of my hand, my wrist, and the outside of my hand until I put a pillow over the cat trust me this was a last resort as I had tried to remove my hand and even tried to grab her by the nape of her neck I would get attacked worse each time I had to remove her claws that were stuck very deeply in the palm and the outside of my hand. Then the cat jumped off the couch and my grandmas other cat chased her under the tree and attacked her for attacking me!! It was such a horrible cat fight my grandpa had to come and stop them. I have never had that happen in my whole life and I love all animals just dont own all of them.

Discussions & Information on Grooming / Re: Pedi Paws
« on: December 25, 2008, 09:37:35 pm »
My aunt just got pedipaws 2 weeks ago and she loves it and it works great on her puggle and now you can buy it at our local grocery store so Im thinking of picking it up and trying it on my dogs. There not scared of the nail clippers at all they have all become quite accustomed to lay down get nails done and feet trimmed at the same time, but most of the time I only do there front feet first then like 2 days later do the back feet.LOL. You try sitting there with scissors and nail clippers doing three saint bernards its tiring. Especially clipping that horrid foot hair. I wish they would come up with something easier for that besides a groomer. Thank god my dogs are patient.

I thought dogs got the runs from milk??? Im not sure I know I do if I drink milk lol. Lactose intolerant. I still drink it every once in awhile, but I have to watch my intake cheese, milk, or I get sick and the supplement is not like the same thing. I'd rather get sick just to enjoy milk products. ;D

Hey Stella  :-* we must both be old, how about Deputy Dawg?

Oh yeah, Patty, we are old, LOL. I do remember Deputy Dawg!

How about Charlie and the whole cast of "All Dogs go to Heaven"
Scarily, I remember when that movie came out, I think Nick (now 21) was 2.
Stella

Chawhee :)  I love that movie!  I'm 25, but remember that movie like it was yesterday.  I think Charlie is Burt Reynolds, and good ol Dom DeLuise is Itchy!

I will never forget "lets make music together, lets make sweet harmony"

My favorite song was the more you share I always sing that song to my dogs still to this day. Well that and I use to sing love makes little things grow from the clifford show for Cujo and now he is huge. lol

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: Looks like we have a new President
« on: November 05, 2008, 01:53:48 pm »
I thought we were not in a war supposedly?? I thought our job was to go get Osama Bin Laden what happened to him??  Funny how all those things went out the window...Elect ion comes and we go into a semi-depression and now those things just dont matter??

I support our troops enough. Enough to bring them home and stop building homes, churches, and schools for people who are not greatful and hate us and are willing to sacrifice themselves to get rid of us. I myself would like to see my own country flourish would be nice for a change would'nt it? Wont happen regardless of whatever president we get. We need to stop worrying so much about everyone else and there countrys problems. We have enough to worry about here. I hope any president would care enough to see that, but none have so far.

I will admit I heavily disliked George Bush still do wont deny it.I didnt mind McCain, but I disliked his vp choice and he let her do alot of his talking. I might have voted for him if she was not his choice for vp. Sarah Palin made it easy for me to vote for Obama.
