Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: Should I Be Concerned??
« on: August 09, 2008, 09:33:03 am »
Thanks for all the responses. Let me just say, I will definitely be contacting the news. I think I will send something out to them on Monday. It is absolutely bogus that they can just put all my information out there without out some kind of written consent.

I didn't really know anything about the homicide when they interviewed me, and honestly, I was in no shape to be interviewed. I was freaking out. Now, I will have to say, I was pretty calm and collected on the news. THEY are the ones that told me this happened in my building....(Just a side note...The night before at about 4am someone was POUNDING on my door, which I did not answer, and later found out it was the Cops...they didn't identify themselves though!)

I received the majority of the letters a few days after it happened, but I just received another about 2 days ago (different person, one of the same jails as the others though). So I have a feeling it may not be over....receiv ing the letters that is. You know, I read all the letters, and they were all "nice" to me...not threatening to kill or anything, and they don't want to be anything but "pen pals"...but then I thought about it, and they probably can't write what they WANT to write in the event that the prison reads the letters before they allow them to be sent out.

I dug up some dirt on these people. The majority of them are in jail for drugs....Posse ssion of Cocaine with intent to sell....Resist ing or Obstructing an officer...A few also are armed robbers.

There is one in particular that freaks me out a little though. First off, in the letter, his middle initial is wrong. I searched the State Circuit Court Access as well as the Department of Corrections and found only one person with this name in the corrections facility the letter came from. In the letter it states he is in jail for possession of cocaine with intent to sell, which of course was not actually his...just in his vehicle ::) On the Circuit Court Access website, he has been charged with the following (not all at once of course...start ing with most recent):
Retail Theft
Knowly Violate a Domestic Abuse Order
Stalking
Resisting or Obstructing an Officer
Escape
Domestic Abuse
Threat to Injure
Operate a vehicle without a valid license
Battery
False Imprisonment

Not a word of drugs in the guys record.

Anything Non-Dog Related / Should I Be Concerned??
« on: August 08, 2008, 10:39:32 am »
Ok, well let's see if I can put this in a nutshell....

A couple weeks ago there was a homicide in my building...I'm in 104...it was 205. To make a long story short, the 19 year old guy strangled the 18 year old girl. They had just moved in together and were getting ready to go to college together at the univeristy of wisconsin-milwaukee. (I live very close to campus).

I ended up being on the news (Miles too!) regarding the situation. I didn't really want to be, but I just cannot say no to people! I need to learn to use it more often. Not only was I on the news, but so was my NAME and Building Address.

First off, let me say, I cannot BELIEVE they put my whole name on the news!!! They should have to ask before they can just go and do that! The worst part of it is I have received 5 letters from 3 different jails from PRISONERS that saw me on the news and want to be "pen pals". Two even included pictures.

I don't know if I should be worried or not? I'm sure they write to numerous girls they see on tv when enough information is provided to them, like name and address, but what if they get out of jail, and have a hit list or something!? People that don't write back, so then they come after them. It's creepy.

So someone was KILLED in my building, and now I have prisoners writing to me.....I want to move. :P :-\

I basically live in an apartment. Miles does pretty well. He's not a very active dog. He likes to be outside alot, so the neighbors know us well. We greet all the people as they come in. ;) I wouldn't necessarily say every pyr is for apartment life. Since they do love to bark...(Miles is actually not a barker in the house here....well.. .he does bark but not nearly as often as I would have thought being a pyr and all...maybe its because he grew up here and he's used to the noise...but when we go to my mom's out in the country, he wont shut up!) Good luck with whatever you choose.

I'm baaack! I certainly didn't feel like I was there long enough, and most of the time was spent traveling.

Day one-Thursday July 24, I was traveling for a total of about 26 hours between leaving CLE (since I went to Cedar Point) arriving in Chicago...leav ing again to go to Italy....Then taking a train from the airport to the main train station in rome. Then the train workers decided to go on STRIKE (which took about an hour for me to figure out as the train employees didn't speak much english), so I was stuck at the train station for 4 hours. Then I had to take a train to get from Rome to Bologna which took 4 hours instead of two since the fast trains were sold out. Then I FINALLY arrived at my hotel after getting lost on the way....at approximately 6pm Friday evening (11am Friday Central Time)....Then I had to go to a meet and greet for the wedding...I was basically sleeping on the couch when I was supposed to be socializing. :P

Day Two-The Wedding
Had a good night's sleep..enjoyed the nice FREE breakfast at the hotel (it was delicious)..then enjoyed the beauty of the church as I attended the wedding. I had no idea what was being said the whole time because it was all in Italian..sooo yeah...basical ly I just enjoyed the beauty of the church. It was SO hot in there though.[I swear, Italy doesn't believe in air conditioning. And when they do SAY they have air conditioning.. .it means they have it set to about 80. So compared to the 100 degrees it is outside, it feels cool when you first walk in, but then you realize...it's not all that cool. hahaha] Following the wedding was the reception at this delicious Indian restaurant. Boy oh boy was it delicious. The whole meal took about 3 hours to eat too! hahaha

Day Three-Wake up to go back to the train station to head back to Rome. Spend the whole live long day in Rome. Not long enough, but it certainly was enjoyable while I was there.

Day Four-Back to the train station...to catch a train to the airport...to catch a shuttle to the terminal...to go through security....to check in...to go through actual security....to get my passport checked...to take another shuttle to the gate...to get my ticket pulled to go on the plane...to go down an escalator...to get my passport checked again...to wait in line...to catch ANOTHER shuttle...to FINALLY get on the plane....10 hours later arrive in Chicago...then take a bus back to MKE! wooohoo!

It was a very good time, but next time I will have to stick around longer. The travel part of it pooped me out!

I will post pics later on today!!

AHHH. I can't believe I was in Italy. It was great!

She is sooo beautiful!!

She reminds me alot of Miles. Miles LOVES the water...as long as he can touch the bottom. Does she dig at the water and make it splash like crazy? haha Miles enjoys that too.

That pic of Phoebe on the pier is sooo pretty. I love it.

Tomorrow, I am going to Cedar Point (Amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio for those of you that aren't familiar). So I'm flying to Cleveland tomorrow. Going there...then leaving Cleveland the day after (Thursday) to go to ROME. Wooohooo. I'm so excited. I haven't been on much lately because I've been working a TON. And trying to plan this trip in less than a month. I miss you guys!!

Once I come back from Italy though, I should have more free time on my hands!

I'll only be there for 4 days, but at least it's a little "taste" of italy.  ;)

I hope everyone is doing well! I'll be back soon!Smooches to all the pooches :-*

well, you'll definitely be on poop-watch for a couple of days. I would imagine that, with a dog Miles size, it will pass along just fine, but you may want to make a call to your vet for a professional opinion.

I'm kind of thinking he won't have a problem either. And of course I'm hoping. I've heard of small dogs eating buttons and rocks and things and they all pass. haha This is kind of gross...but his poo is about twice as big around as the nose was....sooo I would take that as an indication that it SHOULD pass. hahaha We'll see. I hate the waiting game....

Miles just got 3 new stuffed animals. One of which is a bear with a plastic nose. I knew he'd get it off eventually. But not in record time. Less than one minute. I heard it in his mouth, so I got to him, and yep, he swallowed it. :o ::) He usually NEVER swallows things like that!! Now what? I guess wait and hope it passes? Do you think it will? I mean, it was sort of big.....not GIANT, but like...maybe 1/2 an inch in diameter. What do you think?

P.S. All the other stuffed animals do NOT have anything plastic attached. haha

HAHAHA. Oh Bubba. You crack me up!!! :P

Food Discussion & Information / Re: Feeding habits driving me nuts!

Miles usually won't eat in the morning either. I also have to moisten his kibble. Well, I stopped moistening the kibble on the morning meal. I give him 1.5 cups of dry food in the morning. He usually eats it by 1pm or 2, unmoistened. I figure if he's hungry enough, he will eat it dry. Then, I will fix up his evening meal.
