For those who don't know, Araby is an Alpha bitch, and when I say Bitch I mean in every sense of the word.  When Sanity first came he was socially retarded, and didn't know any of the doggy world pack signals.  As a result Araby used to beat the crap outta him on a constant basis.  Even until now she hasn't really liked him.  We say it's because he still has his (As my mother calls them) "Manly Danglies".  Well I saw this last night.  You guys honestly can't understand, Araby's the dog that growls at Sanity if he tries to come downstairs while she's down here, she would NEVER share a room with him much less a blanket.  And yet, here's the proof.

Great Dane Pictures / Car shopping with Sanity

No the car isn't for me.  My friend sold his 87 Caddy to a Salvage yard and then we went to pick up his 2001 Focus.  I brought Sanity, well because I always bring Sanity.

Personally I hate it when it happens.  But when you look back on it later, the pics are pretty funny.

Anything Non-Dog Related / I lost my job today.
« on: July 28, 2005, 08:21:00 am »
I pull up to my work and I see one of the boss's trucks is there.  I think to myself, that's weird, he wasn't supposed to be in today.  I go inside, and he's standing there with an evelope.  He comes up to me and says "I have to give you this check" so I'm thinking it's something good.  Then he says "It's just not working out.  Nothing personal we just have to let you go."  What?  What did I do?  "You didn't do anything, we're not firing you, we're laying you off (Like ther's a difference).  It's nothing personal don't feel bad (Of course it isn't personal for you, you aren't the one losing your job)."  There was no warning, as far as I know things were going great.  When I left yesterday my other boss was giving me things to do for today.

I'm just floored, I feel like such a failure.  I can't go on my trip now because I don't have the money for it.  At least this happened before I spent all the money.  I don't know what I'm going to do.

Yup, that's my Sanity.  I thought he was going through his case of biscuits rather quick, and I hid behind the couch and watched him.

« on: July 11, 2005, 08:06:39 pm »
I was talking to a friend about wolf dogs and someone had posted a link in here earlier (Within the past week) to a wolf dog post about how in reality very few wolf dogs have uch, if any wolf in them.  Well I can not find that post for the life of me.  I found people who posted on it and I looked up their last few posts, and I can't find it.  I'm going NUTS!!!!!!!!  Can anyone help?  (Not with the going nuts part, that's beyond any help)

Great Dane Pictures / Trying to be a FAIR mommy
« on: July 09, 2005, 06:26:25 pm »
I was responding to a post on the thread about Sanity's pictures, and I felt HORRIBLE because I realized that I havne't posted practically anything about my other two babies.

Here's Araby.  She's the first puppy that we got.  I got her for Matt's Birthday.  She picked him out when she was a week old.  We got first pick of the females and Matt was scared to death as he'd never had a dog before and was afraid he'd break her.  She crawled up his chest and kissed his chin and then snuggled to sleep in his pocket.  She's been his spoiled rotten baby ever since.

I apologize for not having alot of pics of Araby.  My CD with her pics has fallen off the face of the earth.

Hobo.  He's an adorable little bugger.  That's all you can really say about him. :)  He loves everyone and everyone loves him.  In reality he's Araby's dog.  She's not spoiled though.

Well my little visitors are gone.  I'm pretty relieved on all fronts.  First off, the easy one.  The kitten has gone to my mother as a birthday present (And I bought her all new kitty stuff.  I'm not THAT cheap).  She went shopping with my grandmother yesterday and when they went back to the house my mother fell head over heels.  So I'm ecstatic because my mom will take awesome care of her and I'll still get to see her all the time.  I was worried about my dad because he's not really a cat person, but she LOVES him.  When I went to bring the cat stuff she was sleeping on his belly (My dad has a lot of belly to sleep on).  Sanity's pretty upset about losing his kitty.  I guess he walked backwards in front of my mom the whole way to her car fussing and whining.  When I got home he was sniffing where her crate used to be and sighing.  Then he was moping around the house.  It was so sad I wanted to cry.

However when the puppy left no one cried.  It was hard enough to get rid of her.  I was supposed to take her back to the rescue last night.  I was driving to get Matt so he could go with me because I have to drive through some sketchy areas and it was late at night.  I was bringing Sanity with me too so I had a pretty full/protected car.  I was about 5 minutes from the house when the rescue lady informs me she has no room tonight.  Can I bring the puppy tomorrow morning?  I have to be at work at 8:30, I say, and she says "I can meet you in Nashua".

So we plan on a meeting place and I decide I'll just spend the night at the Nashua house, and meet her at 7:30, which should give me time to get something at Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and get to work (Which is 30 minutes from Nashua).  Well Matt wakes me up at 7:19, the alarm didn't go off.  I throw on my clothes, put Sanity outside (He's the only one that doesn't bark when he's out and therefore doesn't wake the neighbors at ungodly hours), grab the puppy and run out to my car.  And I get there at 7:30 on the dot.  She isn't there.  So I wait.  I call work and tell them I'm gonna be late.  They're awesome and tell me to get there when I can get there, don't worry about it. (Then my boss yells in the background "Not like you do anything anyways!"). She finally shows up at 8:16.  Says puppy looks great, and very happy.  Yay I'm an awesome foster mommy!  Even to demon spawn puppies.

So my saga is over.  Sanity is probably going to go find something to mommy, so I'm sure I'll have something to tell you guys about soon.

In one of my other groups a girl has her 4 month old Dane pup in diapers because she kept going in the house.  She takes her out every hour (I think she needs to go out more often, but whatever), and she was spayed about a week ago.  But the more this girl says about the pup, the more I think it's just a potty training issue, not a health issue.  She was apparently tested for a UTI and the vet says she's fine, so this girl has resorted to the "Cute" diapers :-X

I've only heard of diapers being used for incontinence and the panties for bitches in heat, but never for potty training.  I would think this would be detrimental not only to the puppy's potty training, but mental and social development, not to mention dangerous if left alone and she decides to eat the diaper.  Any thoughts?

Hello.  My name is Ang and I found this board by following a link, which led to a link, which led to a link :)  I am the proud mother of a 10 month old Onyx Dane puppy named Sanity, who is my world, as unhealthy as that may be.  My fiance and I also have a 3 year old Llewllin English Setter, Araby, who's his pride and joy, and a 1 year old Chinook, Hobo, who in reality is Araby's dog.    I really like what I've seen of here so far and hope to become very involved.
